Sustainability

We approach design in a holistic, forward-thinking way that ensures sustainability is an integral part of the functionality and beauty of the buildings and spaces we create, not just an environmental responsibility.

Approach
& Process

Our approach is circular, we listen, gather, integrate and then reflect. With every project being unique, this method helps us thoughtfully consider the aspects of sustainability that will bring the most value to each environment.

Sustainable
Design
in Practice

We believe design should be beautiful, functional, and efficient. Whether it’s creative energy efficient buildings, healthy material selections, or a focus on water conservation, our design approach allows us to focus on the importance of environmental responsibility in each project.

Fulton Labs
at 1375 W Fulton

Chicago, Illinois

The project incorporated View Glass, which is a dynamic glazing that is self-tinting which allows for flexibility of the tenant spaces, including maintaining a sterile environment for laboratories. This optimized the building for daylighting and glare control to receive credits in it’s LEED Gold Certification.

The
Berkman

Rochester, Minnesota

Of the total material costs on the project, 20% contained recycled content and 48% were sourced regionally which contributed to the projects LEED Silver Certification.

The
Fenley

Bloomington, Minnesota

Located adjacent to Bloomington Central Station, the apartments are in an excellent transit location. Located on the east side of Bloomington, this project is 3 miles from the airport and less than a mile to the Mall of America.

The
Miller

Stillwater, Minnesota

The project utilized a green roof strategy to meet the requirements of volume and water quality control equal to 1.1 inches of runoff from the new impervious surfaces on the site. The project did not exceed existing conditions in the 2, 10 and 100-year, 24-hour storms.
