Waterbury House

The nine-story, 73-unit Waterbury House is deftly inserted into a challenging, Flatiron-shaped site in the Lakes District of Minneapolis. The building exterior is divided into a classic base, middle and crown parti. The rhythmic two-story stone clad base presents a more public aspect while the residential body of the building above is set back and clad in a soft, cream-colored brick. The top-floor amenity is treated as a dark attic story and is set back even further to provide for outdoor amenity spaces at the rooftop. This rooftop space offers outstanding views of the lakes and Southwest Minneapolis. The facades feature large windows and recessed balconies, giving residents private outdoor spaces. A restaurant with direct resident access will become part of the engaging, first-level program.
