VERVE Tempe

Verve Tempe is a large-scale, transit-oriented student housing development ideally located along the Valley Metro A light rail line in Tempe, Arizona. ESG worked closely with the city to create a development that meets density and urban design goals while also reducing resident reliance on automobiles. The design uses subtraction and subsidence concepts to shape the exterior, resulting in a compelling composition of differently colored metal panel clad volumes. The double-height first floor actively engages the street with a resident lobby, covered vehicle drop-off and commercial space connected to parking through a generous pedestrian paseo. The primary amenity spaces are located on a sculptural rooftop that includes a large outdoor pool terrace featuring commanding mountain views.
