The twelve-story VERVE student residence is located across Emmet Street from the UVA campus, steps away from the UNESCO World Heritage designated Lawn that is the heart of the University of Virginia. Nestled into the hillside, the exterior design plays with perceived scale using proportion and materiality to visually order the buildings on this uniquely shaped site. Special attention was paid to the pedestrian realm, creating improved neighborhood connections along the sloping site perimeter. A pair of courtyards shielded from street view host a robust outdoor amenity program directly outside the lobby and leasing area. Study and work from areas are distributed throughout the buildings on each floor.
