Born in the Netherlands, Burt returns often to Europe to study new housing initiatives and urban development trends. He’s inspired by innovative, sustainable contemporary architecture that creates communities in which people love to live and work. His research is our gain, as he filters and applies his findings to context-sensitive, city-building projects for clients throughout the U.S.

For Burt, well-designed housing equals high-quality urban spaces. He begins with the site, a foundation for city building, so that a new or renovated building’s streetscape contributes to the neighborhood’s sustainability and walkability. He also mixes residential density with urban amenities in creatively designed structures to create a great neighborhood within the building itself.

As a design architect, Burt is involved with a project from master planning and conceptual design through contract documents and interior architecture. He applies his expertise to a variety of project types, including residential/mixed-use retail, corporate/commercial and custom residential interiors. He’s designed hundreds of dwelling units within historic buildings, new condominium and apartment buildings, higher-education residences and hotels.

A lively and attentive collaborator with a global perspective and many years of expertise, Burt fosters long-term relationships with clients through his innovative, singular approach to creating award-winning projects that add to urban vitality.
