Mark is unabashed in his enthusiasm for architecture, nature and the built environment, and his family. He delights in showing his four children the high-profile hotels he’s worked on, describing to them the planning and design process, and talking about the talented people he collaborated with to make the project extraordinary. An architect with an easy-going, glass-half-full approach, Mark finds the positives in every situation. His expertise also includes formulating quick solutions. “For me problem solving is an opportunity,” he says, “not a challenge.”

He joined ESG in 2014 with expertise in big-box and boutique retail, education and religious architecture, healthcare and senior housing. He thrives on deadlines, and collaborating with cities and communities, as well as other designers, consultants, engineers and contractors on behalf of his clients. Among his accomplishments are saving a client a six-figure sum in multi-project costs by suggesting a switch in building materials and methods, and implementing ground-breaking LEED design aspects into his projects. As project architect and construction manager, he recently completed Lodge Kohler in Green Bay and Embassy Suites Hilton in the historic Plymouth Building in Minneapolis—distinctly different projects that reflect how design embodies brand.
