Construction Administrator

Elness Swenson Graham Architects (ESG) is an award-winning design firm with a national practice in urban residential, hospitality, workplace environments, higher education, branding and graphic design. ESG currently has an opening for a talented Construction Administrator with a minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience to join our CA Department and Team who will work as an integral part of our architecture firm. This professional will be performing construction administration services for hospitality, residential, mid-rise, high-rise, mixed-use, luxury, senior, affordable, and student housing projects in markets across the country.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review contractor submittals
  • Review and respond to contractor RFI’s (Request For Information)
  • Construction site observation
  • Produce field reports that document observations
  • Consult with and report on construction related issues with the architectural project team  and consultants
  • Review and certify project contractor change orders and monthly pay application requests
  • Oversee project punch list and final project closeout / turnover
  • Attend scheduled site and preinstall meetings
  • Manage specific project CA budget
  • Maintain knowledge of current codes and practices
  • Maintain favorable working relationships with clients and contractors
  • Travel required to visit the construction site, locally and nationally

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in architecture, architectural engineering, construction administration, or in a related field
  • Experience with multi-family and hospitality projects
  • Experience with Type 1, 3, and 5 construction types
  • 8+ years of construction administration experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
  • Excellent clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Positive attitude and driven to succeed
  • Experience using Submittal Exchange / Procore Internet-based submittal service

Project Architect/Project Manager

Elness Swenson Graham Architects (ESG) is an award winning design firm with a national practice in urban residential, hospitality, workplace environments, higher education, branding and graphic design. Headquartered in Minneapolis where the firm enjoys a leadership position in redevelopment, ESG recently won the American Institute of Architects Firm Award for “innovation in urban residential mixed use design.”

Elness Swenson Graham Architects currently has openings for a Project Architect/Project Manager with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience who will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks including oversight of project design and construction documents as well as project management and client management duties. This candidate will be responsible for the detailing and technical documentation of project design; coordination of building systems with consultants; confirmation of conformance with all applicable codes; and coordination with municipal building departments and other governing agencies to coordinate approvals. We are looking for someone to join our highly creative, collaborative design group that is passionate about fostering our team spirit and growing with us.

Primary Responsibilities:

  •  Develop design, construction documents and specifications for projects
  • Interpret design concepts and translate them into workable construction systems; evaluate alternatives to develop cost effective solutions; maintain quality technical and design control
  • Develop construction details and research architectural materials and systems
  • Deliver complete, accurate and coordinated project documentation
  • Work independently or with design team to complete projects on aggressive schedules
  • Client and Consultant coordination to oversee accurate and timely completion of construction documents
  • Research and coordination of materials and products for project specifications
  • Implementation of all local, state and federal applicable building codes, constructability and architectural standards of practice
  • Participate in all aspects of construction administration related activities (in office and on site)
  • Lead/Mentor production staff

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in architecture and professional license
  • 8+ yrs of project architect experience within the architecture and construction field
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems and site requirements
  • Ability to provide efficient and elegant design solutions
  • High level of conceptual creativity, innovative thinking and problem solving
  • Strong graphical and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, able to have a solid working relationship with clients
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and work efficiently with team members
  • Must be proficient in Revit, Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office and have a willingness to conform to ESG document standards.

Interior Designer

ESG currently has an opening for a talented Interior Designer with a minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience, competent in covering a wide variety of tasks centered on the interior design process through all phases of design documentation, from conceptual design through construction administration.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with interdisciplinary team on multiple projects and project types.
  • Involvement in entire project process, from programming through design and into construction.
  • Development of finish plans, drawings, details, models and construction documents.
  • Development of furniture budgets and specifications.
  • Development of client presentation materials.
  • Coordination of product reps, furniture dealers and other project consultants.
  • Assistance with project proposals.
  • Project Management/Lead Interior Designer role

Qualifications:

  • Interior Design Degree
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of Interior Design experience in commercial architecture and construction field
  • Highly motivated, excellent time management and ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Collaborative spirit
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of commercial design
  • High level of conceptual creativity, innovative thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to provide efficient and elegant design solutions
  • Strong graphical and presentation skills (proficiency in REVIT, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Modeling Software)
  • Ability to have a solid working relationship with clients and internal teams
