general ledger Accountant
Job Summary: Primary accountabilities for the General Ledger Accountant are to oversee and maintain the company’s general ledger activities, ensure on-time and accurate periodic financial reporting, ensure compliance with the company’s financial policies and procedures, and manage functional duties including general accounting, fixed asset maintenance, and any other accounting finance projects as necessary.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manages workflow to ensure all transactions are properly recorded into the general ledger on a timely basis and in the correct period.
- Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements, reports, and records by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing complex account information while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Maintains general ledger accruals, fixed asset accounting and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Investigates and resolves, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
- Coordinating or assisting with the budget process.
- Assistance with analyzing and reporting cost variances.
- With the team establishing and maintaining internal controls.
- Ensuring all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and established accounting principles.
- Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Identifying solutions to discrepancies in financial records.
- Assistance with payroll and billing process when needed. Manage, review, update and implement all ERP upgrades.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 5 or more years’ experience in accounting or related field.
- In-depth understanding of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within accounting, including U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and strong financial analysis skills.
- Strong computer skills including Excel, Word and Teams.
- Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines.
Preferred:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as in team environment.
- Professional services industry experience.
- Experience with Oracle Netsuite Openair.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment.
Physical Requirements: Qualified incumbents must have the ability to sit, stand, hear, see, reach, use a computer keyboard, and work at a computer for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
