With the University’s mission for “Institutional Distinctiveness” and the need to create the Winona Experience as the basis of the work, ESG worked in conjunction with URS Corporation, as they updated the City of Winona’s comprehensive plan, to provide a student housing study to evaluate the status of Winona State University’s housing stock, to evaluate the current housing trends, to identify WSU’s residential life goals and to recommend the course of action. The new student residence hall is two, four-story buildings containing a mix of suite style units including single occupancy/two bedroom units and double occupancy/two bedroom units along with supporting common areas including great room/living spaces with common kitchens. Outdoor amenity spaces are planned to fill the need for recreation on the WSU campus.
