Mark G. Swenson, FAIA, LEED AP has been the President of Elness Swenson Graham Architects, Inc. (ESG) in Minneapolis since 1990.
Mark has developed a national reputation in hotel planning and design having completed over 60 built hotels across the country. Mark has consulted directly for many hotel companies such as Starwood, Marriott and Carlson Companies to develop new prototype designs. He focuses on master planning, space programming and schematic design. In just the last five years alone he has worked for the following brands: W Hotels, Westin, Luxury Collection, Le Meridien, Sheraton, aloft by W, Marriott, Radisson Blu, Hyatt, Double Tree, Radisson, Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn and Suites and Country Inn and Suites.
Mark was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in 2008 and won the Career Achievement Award from the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota in 2009 for helping to save four highly visible buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. These include the Milwaukee Road Depot, the 1,000,000 GSF Sears Building, the Farmers and Mechanics Bank Building and the iconic Foshay Tower.
